Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party reach places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Planners parties.
Audiences can anticipate learning which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
