The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device

It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
